At the southern most end of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is the longest pier in Myrtle Beach. Stretching nearly 910 feet into the blue Atlantic Ocean, the Second Avenue North Pier is opened year round for fishing and those who just enjoy pier walks. Pier operating hours are from 7:00 am until 1:00 am during peak season which is usually May-June-July-August. This is the second year in a row Myrtle Beach has won this prestigious award. Lots of new attractions are cropping up around the boardwalk area. By far the most visible is the SkyWheel. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is getting a new 200 foot neighbor! The SkyWheel ferris wheel, is being built just a stones throw from the boardwalk, adjacent to Plyler Park. With a price tag of 12 to 15 million dollars, its joins the 1.2 mile Boardwalk and Promenade as Myrtle Beach's newest ocean front attractions. Plans for the new SkyWheel include 42 Swiss made glass-enclosed, temperature-controlled gondolas, and will hold 6 to 8 riders each with each ride lasting 9 to 12 minutes.
