At the southern most end of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is the longest pier in Myrtle Beach. Stretching nearly 910 feet into the blue Atlantic Ocean, the
Second Avenue North Pier is opened year round for fishing and those who just enjoy pier walks.
Pier operating hours are from 7:00 am until 1:00 am during peak season which is usually May-June-July-August. During the off season, it’s always best to call the tackle shop at 843-445-PIER (7437), then press 1. The pier does close at 7 pm on Wednesday nights for the merchants weekly fireworks show. For those who desire a bite to eat or enjoy a cold beverage, a restaurant and open air bar are available. Call the above number for hours.
To help with cost and upkeep of the pier, a $1 per person fee is charged for those that just want to take a walk on the pier. Keep the receipt as it is good all day just in case you want to go back.
For those of us who like drowning bait. Daily pier fishing passes are available at the tackle shop. The cost is $9.00. You can also buy bait and rent your rod and reel. Bait (Shrimp, Mullet & Squid) is $6.00 + tax per package. Rod rental package is $25 per day plus a $10.00 deposit that’s refunded when the gear is returned. A fishing license is not required when fishing from the pier, but if you want to surf fish then a license will be required.
