» Myrtle Beach Garners Best Beach Destination for 2011
Thanks in large part due to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, the beaches and attractions of Myrtle Beach have once again been proclaimed “Best Beach Destination” by TripAdvisor. This is the second year in a row Myrtle Beach has won this prestigious award.
Lots of new attractions are cropping up around the boardwalk area. By far the most visible is the SkyWheel. With its 42 climate-controlled gondolas, the SkyWheel will provide tourists and locals alike a breath taking ride and view of the Grand Strand coast line. The SkyWheel is being built adjacent to Plyler Park. Check out this post for more SkyWheel info. Officials anticipate completion of the SkyWheel around Memorial Day.
Not resting on it’s laurels, the boardwalk/Plyler Park area is the new home to Jimmy Buffet’s Land Shark Bar & Grille. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will have mostly outdoor seating. The Land Shark will be the third Buffet themed restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area. Buffet’s Margaritaville restaurant at Broadway at the Beach and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant on the north end of Myrtle Beach are already hotspots.
A Skyride Tram is also in the making with plans for completion in 2012. As of this posting, plans are still incomplete but developers are considering running the tram along the oceanfront, across the former Pavilion property or at other sites in the downtown area.
All in all, 2011 is shaping up to be a wonderful year for the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk!
