Easy access to the boardwalk from the beach.

The City of Myrtle Beach celebrated the grand opening of it’s new tourist attraction, The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. The ribbon cutting ceremony featured a 1000 pound cake, in the shape of what else, a flip-flop. The footwear of choice for beach-goers.

The 1.2 mile beachfront and dunes protected boardwalk was welcomed by city leaders, locals and a few tourists who were lucky enough to be in town. The cake was made by TV’s “Cake Boss” Buddy Volastro who was also in attendance. Volastro remarked about how much the boardwalk in his home state of New Jersey means to him. The boardwalk will help revitalize and draw visitors to the the downtown beachfront area and to help transform, what the now closed, Pavilion amusement park had done in the past. With numerous sitting alcoves and large benches, one can rest their weary bones and soak in the beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. Numerous beach and gift related merchants have storefronts that open directly onto the boardwalk. So now, one can stroll, shop, and catch the ocean breezes without getting all the sand in between your toes. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is indeed a wonderful addition to our city. Enjoy!
