Signs, signs, everywhere a sign, Blocking up the scenery, breaking my mind Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign…In reality, we do need a few rules of courtesy and safety to keep people safe and to preserve this new and wonderful Myrtle Beach resource for everyone to enjoy. Here are the new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk rules that the “city fathers” say are designed to keep the attraction user-friendly for everyone:
- From May 1 through Labor Day, pets are allowed on the boardwalk only between 5 and 10 a.m. From the day after Labor Day through April 30, pets are allowed on the boardwalk at any time, but must be on a leash at all times and you must pick up and properly dispose of any droppings.
- Bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk on the same schedule as pets. (Law enforcement bicycles are allowed year-round.)
- Skateboards, roller skates and rollerblades are prohibited on the boardwalk. Segways and other privately-owned motorized or electric vehicles also are prohibited, except those for handicap or disabled individuals.
- Feeding birds is prohibited.
- Glass bottles and containers are prohibited.
- Littering is prohibited.
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited, except in approved sidewalk cafes.
- Soliciting, vending or distribution of free products or samples is prohibited, except for three City Council-approved vending franchises at Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Avenues North.
(Thanks to scnow.com, who published these rules on May 15, 2010.)
