Here are a few "fast facts" about the new boardwalk project in Myrtle Beach: The Myrtle Beach boardwalk and promenade is 1.2 miles long. It took nine months to build. The cost was about $6,400,000. It used 770,000 board-feet of lumber. Hence the term "Walking the Boards." It needed 270,000 nails, 555,000 screws and 10,000 bolts to tie it al together. There are 600 new palmetto trees planted beside or near the boardwalk. 50,000 new beach grass seedlings planted on the dunes for beauty, protection and conservation. We certainly hope you enjoy walking the boards - as an estimated "several" million people per year will....
